Jason Walton of CBS, a subcontractor for Garney Construction, helps make adjustments to a hammer held on the end of a crane’s boom. The hammer was driving in sheet pilings on the dam at Lake Parsons Thursday. The city of Parsons signed a $513,980 contract with Garney Construction for the valve repair project at the lake. Both companies are in Kansas City, Mo.

Art Lamely and Sue Hemming spend time with Lamely’s horse Big John during a respite at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center stables. The two live in a two man-tent and travel from town to town on horseback, with two pack horses in tow, stopping in towns to pick up work when needed to buy more supplies. Art had become ill and they needed a few extra days for him to recover before heading south. People at PSHTC helped get Art to a veterinarian and assisted the two in many other ways the last several days. See story in Local News.
