The Kansas unemployment rate jumped by nearly half of a percent in July, while the rate in Labette County increased slightly. According to a Kansas Department of Labor statement, the July unemployment rate in Kansas was 6.9 percent, up from 6.5 percent in June and down from 7.9 percent in July 2009.
