Football picks return as playoffs begin
Let’s hope this goes better than bowl season has for me so far. Below is my take on each of the first-round matchups in the NFL playoffs this weekend. I took New Orleans and Pittsburgh at the start of the season, and I’m feeling so-so on that pick now. At least they are in the playoffs though, right? If I had to choose again, I’d say New England and New Orleans is a more accurate choice for the Super Bowl right now. Sure, New Orleans will h...

Uniquely named mascots is part of charm of high school sports
The A-Game By Anthony Cook Sports Editor Sometimes I really don’t know where an idea is going or how it will end up. This is one of those times, so you’ll have to forgive me if it turns out bad. Mostly, I like to have an idea thought up and think of a beginning and a middle, I’m not good with the ending, so I try to luck out. I don’t like to think of too much more than that. If I do, I might decide it’s bad and not write it at all and hav...
