ALTAMONT — The Grizzlies became just the second SEK team to defeat the Independence Bulldogs Thursday evening here at Vic George Field.

ST. PAUL — The Lady Vikings ran their current streak to seven games here Tuesday, and they broke into double digits in the process.

PHS JV wins two at home Monday
The Parsons High School junior varsity baseball team swept Independence Monday evening in Marvel Park.
The Vikings won game one 14-2 and game two 6-2.
In the opener, Sam Vratil pitched four innings and struck out seven against just one hit.

Labette coach earns 200th win
Labette Community College head coach Ryan Phillips earned his 200th career win Monday afternoon in Parsons in the second game of a doubleheader with Cottey College.
The Lady Cardinals swept Cottey 13-2 and 10-0 to improve to 36-16 overall.

LCHS hosts JV tourney at Forest Park Monday
The Labette County High School tennis team hosted a junior varsity tournament Monday afternoon in Parsons.
Seven teams competed in the tourney, with LCHS taking fifth with 10 points and Parsons taking seventh with seven points.
Pittsburg High School won the event with 30 points while Independence edged out Neodesha (19 points) with 21 points.

LCHS Red, Gold wins pool play in annual wood bat tourney; JV takes two from Cherryvale Monday
After winning the first two Brian Anderon JV Wood Bat Tournament's, the Grizzlies went out and took the top two spots in the third annual event, which concluded Saturday at Vic George Field in Altamont.
The six-team tourney changed to five at the last minute when Iola withdrew, leaving an open spot.

The St. Patrick Catholic School track and field team traveled to Altoona for the Altoona-Midway Invitational on Monday.
The Lady Saints took first overall in three events.

Iola High School hosted the Buck Quincy invitational in Iola Monday afternoon.
The host Mustangs won the junior varsity golf event with a 350 as a team, some 37 strokes better than second-place Burlington.

Four members of the Parsons High School tennis team traveled to Wichita Saturday for the prestigious Tournament of Champions.
The Vikings took fifth overall in a 15-team field.

Parsons High School baseball earned their first overall, and league, victory of the season Friday evening in Coffeyville thanks to an 11-0 win over the Golden Tornado in the opening game of a Southeast Kansas League doubleheader.

St. Paul outlasts Marmaton Valley in sweep
MORAN — The St. Paul Indians jumped back in the win column with a two-game sweep over Marmaton Valley in Moran Thursday evening.
But it wasn’t easy.
