LCC baseball wins one of four at Fort Scott
FORT SCOTT — The Labette Community College baseball team managed to win one game out of four over the weekend against Fort Scott.
Fort Scott’s Greyhounds won both games on Friday, winning 5-2 and 3-1.
In game one, Justin Burgess had two RBIs on two doubles for the Cards. Drew Arnold took the loss.
In the second game, Mike Smith had the RBI for LCC.
LCC won game one on Saturday, winning 3-2.

Grizzlies drop two to Blue Comets
ALTAMONT — Bethany Holsinger’s home run was the lone highlight for the Labette County High School softball team on Friday.
Visiting Chanute swept a doubleheader from the Grizzlies in SEK League play.
Chanute took game one 5-1. The Blue Comets won game two 16-2.
The Lady Grizzlies fell to 1-7 on the season, and 0-2 in the SEK League with the losses. Chanute improved to 7-3 overall, and 5-1 in the league.

PITTSBURG — Abe Russell and Kaylee Krull of Parsons competed at the 24th Annual Jock’s Nitch PSU Gorillas Relays on Friday night at Carnie Smith Stadium.
The meet featured hundreds of prep athletes from southeast Kansas, southwest Missouri, and others from the Kansas City area, the Wichita area and others from Oklahoma.

The Parsons High School boys tennis team picked up some experience with a home invite on Friday.
The Vikings hosted an invite with league rivals Pittsburg, Independence, Fort Scott, and Coffeyville at Forest Park.
At number-one singles, Payton Hays of Parsons took first place.

Hurley thrilled to coach at Oswego

Hurley was named Oswego High School’s new head football coach this week.

CHANUTE — The Labette County High School boys tennis team took first place at the Chanute Invitational on Friday.

The Parsons Middle School track team competed at Independence on Thursday.

This past weekend Oswego High School took 14 students to the 2A State Powerlifting Meet in Solomon under the direction of Coach Travis Burk. Oswego finished second in the team standings.

ST. PAUL — Five dates into the season, the St. Paul High School baseball team is still undefeated.

PITTSBURG — Gilvon Darkis and Braden Page led the Labette County High School boys golf team to a first place finish at the Pittsburg Invitational on Tuesday at Crestwood Country Club.
