Parsons MS golfers take fifth in Garnett
Strong, breezy winds greeted the Parsons Middle School golf team Wednesday in Garnett at the Anderson County Invitational held at the Garnett Country Club. Eighth-grader Lee Head led the Vikings with a 52, good for 14th overall and a medal. Bailey Collins, David Haskew and Sammy Ford finished with 60, 64 and 72 respectively. The St. Paul High School baseball team fell from the unbeaten ranks Tuesday in Mound City with a pair of losses to Jayhawk-Linn. Parsons High School pulled out a second-place finish despite missing one half of its No. 1 doubles team Tuesday in Towanda. PHS JV softball wins, ties against Iola
Tuesday, the Parsons High School junior varsity softball team traveled to Iola for a pair of games. The Vikings tied with Iola 11-11 in game one and won game two 17-5. PHS JV coach Chris Durkin said Shelbi Carpenter and Bree Rogers were solid on the mound, and the Vikings overcame fielding errors in game one. In the second game, Parsons' defense stepped up and the bats continued to shine in the 12-run win.

Labette County High School senior Allie Reynolds has been named the South Central Regional High School Player of the Week by the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association. Reynolds has led the unbeaten Grizzlies to a 10-0 start. In total, the Labette senior has faced 144 batters and struck out 101 of them. The Parsons Middle School golf team traveled to Mound City Monday to compete at the Sugar Valley Lakes Golf Club. Jayhawk-Linn hosted the event and seven teams were present.
