Hornets take out Tyro in one half
CHETOPA — Chetopa High School destroyed Tyro Christian 62-6 here Friday night.
The Homecoming win, which took only two quarters, improves Chetopa’s record to 3-2 for the season. Josh Dvorak was crowned king and Jamie Jackson was crowned queen Friday night.

Vikings, Grizzlies fare well in SE-KAN golf standings
Girls golf teams in the region compete in the SE-KAN. Scores are totaled up from the area tournaments and golfers are ranked by their performances. Several of the schools in the area, such as Girard and Caney Valley, do not have league honors, as not enough teams in those conferences field teams. With that in mind, SE-KAN was formed several years ago to help recognize all girls golfers from the southeast Kansas area.

LCHS volleyball earns league wins
INDEPENDENCE—The Labette County High School volleyball team picked up two SEK League victories on Thursday night.
The Grizzlies beat Fort Scott 29-27, 24-26, 25-17. Labette County also defeated Independence 29-27, 25-22.

LCHS golf takes third at Columbus
The Labette County High School girls golf team finished third in the team standings at Thursday’s Columbus Invitational.
Chanute was first with a 215 and Fort Scott was second (223). Labette was third with a 229.

The 2012-13 Kansas State High School Activities Association classifications were released on Thursday.
None of the Parsons-area schools were affected. There were no changes in the SEK League, either. All of the league schools remain in Class 4A. Pittsburg is one of the largest schools in 4A (710). Others are Independence (576), Fort Scott (562), Chanute (552), Labette County (527), Coffeyville (462) and Parsons (361).
