O'Brien gets no-hitter in win over Cherokee
The Parsons 16-18 year old Babe Ruth League baseball team started the week 4-0 with two sweeps over Cherokee and Neodesha.
Parsons opened play with two games against Cherokee in Marvel Park on Tuesday evening.
Parsons Family Pharmacy pitcher Riley O'Brien pitched seven innings and allowed no hits and just one base on balls in a 2-0 win in game one.
O'Brien also struck out 11 batters and needed only 73 pitches to get the win.

Shaun Hill camp, tourney returning in July

Once again, Parsons will get a visit from one of its own — who just so happens to be a quarterback in the NFL ranks — in July.
Shaun Hill will host the Shaun Hill Golf Tourney and the Shaun Hill Youth Football Camp on the week of July 7-11.

Babe Ruth update 06/20/12
The Parsons Power Flame 13-year-old Babe Ruth Baseball team took on Frontenac in Frontenac on Thursday, June 14 and came away with a 12-8 win in seven innings.
With both teams having games coming up two days later, a seven-inning game was played instead of two five-inning games to conserve pitching.
Parsons opened the game with a 2-0 lead after half an inning before Frontenac tied things through one.

Babe Ruth update 06/18/12
The Erie Heat took on the Parsons Mariners Monday evening at Sonny Johnson Field in Winway Park, with Erie falling 8-4 after taking a 4-2 lead early on.
Parsons scored twice in the first inning but Erie scored four runs over the next two innings, including a three-run effort in the second, to gain the advantage.
However, Parsons pulled within one in the third and took the lead for good in the fourth with four runs.

The Ray Products Rockies defeated the Bowen Pharmacy Yankees 18-4 in Rookie League action Thursday evening at Winway Park in Parsons.

Cunningham wins weightlifting contest
Saturday, The Gym hosted the 3rd Annual Magman's Weightlifting Contest.
Their were three divisions in this year's contest.
Daniel Cunningham was the top lifter in the over 200-pound division. Cunningham lifted 1,595 pounds cumulatively over three dead lift attempts.
Cunningham also won the Biggest Arm Challenge, with his arms measuring 20 inches.

The Parsons Family Pharmacy 16-18 year old Babe Ruth baseball team swept Frontenac Wednesday evening at Marvel Park in Parsons.
A late surge won the first game for Parsons as the 16-18 year olds scored 10 runs in the final two innings to secure the victory.

The Parsons Power Flame 13-year-old baseball team split a home doubleheader with Frontenac in Winway Park Monday evening.
Power Flame dropped the first game 12-8.

Parsons hammered home 10 runs in the first inning of the opener on the way to a 23-8 win.

Friday, the Parsons Roadhouse will hold a Pre Party/Fight Night event for Titan Fighting Championship 23, which will feature hometown fighter Andrew Carrillo on the card.

Dolphins take first in Pittsburg
The Parsons Dolphins Swim Team traveled to the Pittsburg YMCA Mickey Moback Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
The Dolphins took first place as a team and had three individuals take high honors in their age groups.

3 on 3 winners announced
The Labette County High School basketball team recently held the annual Gavin Carson Memorial 3 on 3 tournament.
Over 400 players have participated in the tournament over the past five years and it has raised $4,120. The donations go towards the Gavin Carson Memorial-USD 506 Foundation and a scholarship is given out annually to an LCHS senior boy or girl in Gavin's name.

Shaun Hill camp registration open
Registration forms are now available for the 2012 Shaun Hill Youth Football Camp sponsored by the Parsons Police Officers Association.
The Detroit Lions Quarterback will be in Parsons for the annual youth football camp on July 9 through the 11, at Parsons High School Practice Field, 3030 Morton.

LCHS lands three on all-state Class 4A softball team
The Labette County High School softball team landed three players on the all-state Class 4A team, which was released by the Kansas Softball Coaches' Association Thursday.
LCHS seniors Kaysha Julich and Shelbie Foister made the first team while senior Kelsie Goins made second-team all-state.
