Virginia L. Spriggs, 80, of Parsons died at 9:39 a.m. Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Labette Health. She had been in her usual health and death was not expected.
She was born June 13, 1930, in Dennis to Edgar Samuel and Laura Mae (Clendenen) Miller. She grew up and attended school at Dennis and was a graduate of Dennis High School. For several years she worked as an aide at Parsons State Hospital and Training Center and later at the Southeast Kansas Independent Living office in Parsons.
In earlier years she loved fishing and gardening. She also enjoyed flowers and watching and feeding hummingbirds. She collected frogs and petrified wood and loved animals, especially her pet tree frog, Petey.
She married Lloyd Ramsey were married. They later divorced.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Williams and her husband, E.D., of Parsons; a son, Wesley Regnier and his wife, Helen, of Neosho, Mo.; two grandsons, Brian Williams and Bryan Trayer; a brother, James Miller of Cherryvale; a sister, Dorothy Karst of Loveland, Colo.; and a dear friend, Nancy Varner of Parsons.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Lever, in 1988; and two nephews, Perry Miller and Larry Stone.
Following cremation, the family will have a private committal service in the future. Friends may call from 8 a.m. Wednesday to 5 p.m. Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons to sign the register.
