He was born on Feb. 28, 1927, in rural Thayer to Paris Arthur and Louise (Madison) Dougherty. He attended schools in Thayer.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He married Georgeann “Ann” Reece on Dec. 21, 1953. She preceded him in death in September 1991.
He married Clara May (McCready) Barker on May 7, 1994. She survives of the home.
He was a custom harvester who worked in the central part of the United States for many years.
Other survivors include two sons, Curtis Dougherty of Parsons and Jim Barker of Cornith, Texas; two daughters, Ruth Lloyd of Hutchinson and Jeanine Tos of Wichita; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clifford Dougherty of Glendale, Ariz.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thayer United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Thayer United Methodist Church and may be left with Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Chanute.
