ST. PAUL — Scott A. Coomes, 47, of St. Paul died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at his home. He had been in failing health the past two years.

He was born on Aug. 29, 1963, in Garden City, Mich., to Adrian Dale Coomes and Helen (Schoenhofer) Coomes. He moved with his family to St. Paul, where he graduated from St. Paul High School in 1981.

Scott worked in construction for several years and later worked at Industrial Crating in St. Paul. Most recently, he was employed with O’Brien Rock Co.

He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, sports and spending time with his family and friends.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member and former president of Osage Hills Country Club.

He married Diane Gouvion on May 27, 1988, at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Jason Coomes of Pittsburg and Tyler Coomes of the home; a daughter, Katie Coomes of the home; his parents, Dale and Helen Coomes of St. Paul; four brothers, Damien Coomes and his wife, Alice, of St. Paul, Dale Coomes and his wife, Bernadette, of Girard, David Coomes of Austin, Texas, and Jay Coomes and his fiancee, Linda Padgett, of Denver; a sister, Vicki Hammett and her husband, Roger, of Nixa, Mo.; and in-laws, Charles and Mary Jane Gouvion, of St. Paul.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at the church. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
