OSWEGO — Arta Mae Lewis, 77, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Oswego Community Hospital in Oswego.

She was born in Skidmore, Mo., to Mary and Daniel Bolich.

She worked many years as a certified medication aide in local nursing homes until she retired.

She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens. Also, she loved to crotchet, making many things for family and friends.

She married William E. Lewis on Jan. 25, 1959. He preceded her in death Feb. 11, 1999.

Survivors include Tony Trollope of Labette City; a brother, Darrell H. Bolich of Ada, Okla.; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her companion, Ralph “Carrol” Trollope; two brothers, Lloyd L. Bolich and Willis L. Bolich; and two sisters, Nina P. Dugan and Lila F. Johnson.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Derfelt Funeral Home in Oswego with the Rev. Tom Heflin officiating. Burial will be in McKee Cemetery north of Hallowell. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to Labette Baptist Church in care of the funeral home, 203 Illinois, Oswego, 67356.
