SHERMAN CITY — Charles J. Wilkins, 33, died at 3:25 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, in an auto accident at N.W. 70th and K-102 west of West Mineral.

He was born Nov. 11, 1977, in Kansas City, Kan., to Thom H. and Katherine (Hudson) Wilkins. He had lived in Sherman City for the past eight years after spending most of his life in the Corona area.

He had worked for Crossland Construction Co. for the past four years with iron and steel construction. He was a member of the West Mineral Eagles lodge Aerie 918 and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He married Alice I. Jenkins on March 12, 2001, in Miami, Okla. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Clayton Wilkins and Ryan Wilkins, both of the home; a daughter, Briget Jenkins of the home; his father, Thom Wilkins of Conway Springs; and Katherine Wilkins of Chickapee; three sisters, Lisa Spicer and her husband, Scott, of Gardner, Natalie Adams and her husband, Bruce, of Camdenton, Mo., and Jessica Wilkins and her husband, Luke, of Conway Springs; his father and mother-in-law, Karen and Herb McReynolds of Chanute; and several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Derfelt Funeral Home in Columbus with Aaron Williams officiating. Burial will be in Star Cemetery in West Mineral. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
