AUBURN, Calif. — Veon William Coad, 88, of Auburn, Calif., died Sunday, June 12, 2011.
He was born on Nov. 10, 1922, in Parsons to Alfred V. and Opal (Hancock) Coad. He served in the military during World War II. He was a switchman for Southern Pacific Railroad before retiring.
He married Mary Frances Brewer on Aug. 21, 1943. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Michael Coad and James Coad, both of Auburn, Calif.; two daughters, Susan Milan and Joanne Kile, both of Auburn, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna Ward of Buffalo.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma and Phyllis; and a brother, Robert.
A graveside service was Monday at the New Auburn Cemetery in Auburn, Calif.
The family suggests memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The Lasilla Funeral Chapel in Auburn, Calif., was in charge of arrangements.
