He was born on Nov. 28, 1968, at Parsons to Daniel Lee and Mary Jo (Pope) Brown. He grew up and attended schools at Parsons, graduating from Parsons High School in 1987. He was a state qualifier in wrestling and played football.
He worked at Sun Graphics for a few years. He then moved to North Dakota, where he worked as a hazardous material welder building and maintaining ethanol, concrete and sugar beet plants throughout the Dakotas.
He enjoyed sports and the outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the North Dakota Muzzleloaders Club. He traveled to Canada on hunting expeditions. He cherished his family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Nick Varner of Parsons; his mother, Mary Jo Howard of Parsons; his longtime companion, Kathy Thorson of Mooreton, N.D., and her daughters, Nicki Solheim of Fargo, N.D., Hedi Bruns of Alexandria, Minn., and Misty Geriaux of Cave Junction, Ore.; his grandparents, Dale and Jerry Howard of Coffeyville and Olvie Elmer of Walnut; two brothers, Jason Dantic and his wife, Becky, of Grove, Okla., and Mike Howard and his wife, Tracy, of Altamont; two sisters, Leslie Gage of Erie and Lee Ann Brown and her fiance, John Simoncic, of Pittsburg; a stepbrother, Dwayne Dantic of Chetopa; three stepsisters, Barbara Meier and her husband, Alan, of Parsons, Debbie Jungles and her husband, John, of Parsons and Darlene Dantic of New Richmond, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Missy Dantic, Abby and Shelby Howard and Jon and Danielle Gage; and extended family members, Verlyn Bolinger and his daughter, Whitney, of Parsons.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Lee Brown; and his stepfathers, Warren Dantic and Dale Howard.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery at Erie. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
