FESTUS, Mo. — Steven Wayne “Hawk” Rooney, 52, of Festus, Mo., died at 2:45 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2011, at his home.

He was born on April 27, 1959, in Oswego to Charles and Martha (Tomey) Rooney. He attended school in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1977. 

He was a blacksmith.

He married Teresa Tomlinson in Oswego in 1978. They later divorced.

In December 2009, he married Linda (Logan) Reid. She survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his parents, Charles and Martha Rooney of Webb City, Mo.; three sons, Travis Rooney of Baxter Springs, Nicholas Rooney of West Mineral and Seth Rooney of Branson, Mo.; a stepson, Chris Reid of Indianapolis; a stepdaughter, Nikkee Joiner of Festus, Mo.; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a brother, Mark Rooney of Grove, Okla.; and a sister, Krista Crowder of Carl Junction, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be in Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
