He was born on March 9, 1926, in Parsons to Elmer Thomas and Emma Susan (Essig) Walters.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a retired superintendent of Hanford Produce Co.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a past president of the Johnson County Twirlers Square Dance Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Brantley of Brunswick, Ga., Rae Ann Brooke of Conway, Ark., and Marilyn Chrisman of Hartman, Ark.; a son, George Kilgore of Clarksville; three brothers, Leslie Walters of Coffeyville, Lowell Walters of Aurora, Colo., and Ronnie Walters of Erie; a sister, Sandra Nance of McCune; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby; a brother, Meryl Walters; a grandchild, Keith Courson; and a great-grandchild, Leigh Davenport.
The service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Clarksville. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with the Rev. David Hanshaw officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
