Brenda was born on Jan. 14, 1944, in Mound Valley to Gerald and Lola Mae (Hope) Fouts. She attended Mound Valley Grade School and Labette County High School, where she met John McKinney. They were married on June 24, 1961, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parsons. They lived in Manhattan while John attended Kansas State University. In 1964, they moved to Anaheim, Calif.
Brenda enjoyed spending time with her family, making ceramics, sewing and visiting with friends. She was a member of St. Anthony Claret Catholic Church in Anaheim.
In addition to her husband, John, Brenda is survived by a son, Jeff McKinney and his wife, Pam, of Anaheim, Calif.; two daughters, Jessica McKinney of Monte Rio, Calif., and Jacquelyn Figgins and her husband, Barry, of Daly City, Calif.; two grandchildren, Vazrick and Melissa; her mother, Lola Mae Fouts of Mound Valley; a sister, Joy Trotnic and her husband, Ron, of Wichita; and two brothers, Richard “Dick” Fouts and his wife, Kay, of Dayton, Ohio, and Dean Fouts and his wife, Debbie, of Mound Valley.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Fouts; and an infant daughter.
The funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Claret Catholic Church in Anaheim, Calif. Burial will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Orange, Calif.
