Pamela L. “Pam” Colbert, 53, of Parsons died at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Labette Health. Her death was unexpected.

She was born Sept. 2, 1957, in Kansas City, Kan., to Kenneth E. and Margean R. (McMillin) Mauler. Pam grew up the youngest of four siblings. She graduated from Cherryvale High School and married Carl Watson before moving to Okinawa, Japan.

She returned to the Parsons area in 1977. She worked as a respiratory specialist at the former Labette County Medical Center, now called Labette Health. During this time Pam married Johnny Colbert and together they had two children. The two of them later divorced.

She later took a position at Parsons State Hospital and Training Center, working there for more than 20 years and holding different positions. She was a client training supervisor on Maple Cottage at the time of her death.

NFL football was Pam’s favorite sport. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She enjoyed working in her yard with family on the weekends. Pam liked to entertain and throw parties with barbeque and card games. She loved jazz music and occasionally attended jazz festivals. Pam always said that her favorite thing to do was spoil her grandbabies.

Survivors include two children, Johnny Lee Colbert II of Parsons and Brandi Nicole Colbert of Joplin; two grandchildren, Jonathan Lee Colbert and Daya Lea Holmes; a sister, Patricia A. Mauler of Owasso, Okla.; a brother, Kenneth E. Mauler Jr.; several nephews/nieces, including Eric L. Jones, Jennifer M. (Adkins) Stanke, Donald G. Adkins, Samuel P. Adkins and Michael K. Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Pauline Rose (Mauler) Jones; and a niece, Mary Jean (Jones) Lang.
