Phillip E. “Burt” Blackburn, 55, of Dennis died at his home Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011.

He was born Dec. 10, 1055, in Parsons to Marvin L. and Donna L. (Phillips) Blackburn. He attended the Meadow View School and Labette County High School, graduating in 1973.

For several years he drove a truck for David Winters and later was employed at Taylor Products in Parsons.

He married Nancy Whitwer and they later were divorced.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Marvin and Lavon Blackburn of Parsons; two brothers, Kent Blackburn of Dennis and Jason Langston and his wife, Taffy, of Parsons; two sisters, Cheryl Thomas and her husband, Gene, of Altamont and Janice Cummins and her husband, Charlie, of Harrisonville, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Blackburn; his stepmother, Louise Blackburn; and brother, Mike Langston.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Dennis. Mr. Blackburn will be cremated but friends may sign the register at Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
