Cecilia D. “Diane” Chapman, 50, of Parsons died at 9:51 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Labette Health. She had been in failing health.

She was born on Oct. 15, 1960, in Parsons to David A. and Yvonne D. (McKnight) Mead. She grew up and attended schools in Parsons and was a 1979 graduate of Parsons High School.

She married Allen Chapman on April 20, 1979, in Parsons. Following marriage, she worked at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center, the Parsons Sun and Wal-Mart. She was also serving as an Avon representative.

She was a member of Glory Barn Church in Parsons. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, spending time with her grandson, visiting with her Avon clients and was always willing to help others.

Survivors include her husband, Allen Chapman of the home; three sons, Joshua Chapman and Joseph Chapman, both of Parsons, and William Allen Chapman and his wife, Rachel, of Overland Park; a grandson, Noah Chapman of Overland Park; her mother, Yvonne Mead of Parsons; a brother, Paul Mead of Parsons; and a sister, Cynthia Coester of Brazilton.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Mead.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
