ERIE — Erma Louise Gough, 86, of Erie died at 6:35 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village at St. Paul.

She was born on June 14, 1925, in rural Thayer to Charlie Francis and Sibyl (Oakley) Jones. She was raised in rural Thayer and graduated from Thayer High School.

On Feb. 21, 1948, she married Bobby Dean Gough at Thayer. The couple moved to Erie around 1950. She was a homemaker and worked with her daughter at Connie’s Clayhouse. Mr. Gough preceded her in death on March 10, 1986.

She was a Christian. She was a member of the S.E. KS Bottle and Relic Club at Chanute and was a member of the TOPS Diet Club for many years. Her interests included reading, sewing, cooking, scrapbooking and quilting with her daughter, sisters and nieces. Through the years, she pieced over 1,000 crises baby quilts for Oklahoma City Department of Human Resources for children in crisis.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Hurst, and her husband, Lyle, of Erie and Karen Anslinger, and her husband, Mike, of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren, Travis, Tiffani, Brandy and Tana; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale and Neil Gildart, both of Thayer; and five sisters, Doris Engstrom of Palmdale, Calif., Lena Mae Pippin of Oklahoma City, Okla., Frances Wedan of Antonito, Colo., Nelda Beamon of Copan, Okla., and Norma Stell of Bethany, Okla.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Ralph and Roy Gildart; and a sister, Rene’ Wallace.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Erie Federated Church. Burial will be in Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery at Chanute. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Erie.
