Arthur J. “Art” Holloway Sr., 54, of Parsons died at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at Kindred Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
He was born Jan. 8, 1957, in Omaha, Neb., to Albert Sr. and Mary (Ferdig) Holloway. For many years he lived in Iowa. He lived in Independence for a time before moving to Parsons 18 years ago.
He was an auctioneer for many years and he also owned and operated several bars and clubs in the Southeast Kansas area.
He was a Presbyterian. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where he had served as both president and trustee.
He married Peggy Wilson; they later divorced. He married Rhonda Cook; they later divorced.
Survivors include his significant other, Sandra Peoples of the home; two sons, Arthur J. Holloway Jr. of Parsons and Robert “Bob” Holloway of Atlantic, Iowa; two daughters, Lisa Holloway of Atlantic, Iowa, and Tammy Holloway of Seymour, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; six brothers, Joe Holloway of Atlantic, Iowa, Albert Holloway Jr. of Manilla, Iowa, John Holloway of Exira, Iowa, Irvin Holloway of Stuart, Iowa, Virgil Holloway of Greenfield, Iowa, and Richard Fredrickson of Sioux City, Iowa; three sisters, Viola Welch of Independence, Lilly Back and Marie Vestal, both of Manning, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; and his extended family, Aaron Peternell, Lisa Kirk, Christy Lentz, Misty Lentz, Ashley Kirk, all of Tulsa, Samantha Ward and Krystal Peoples, both of Parsons.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Delano Cemetery in Cameron, Mo., at 3 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
