ALTAMONT — Dixie L. Lewis, 64, of Altamont died at 5:01 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at Clarehouse in Tulsa.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1947, in Coffeyville to Roy and Maxine (Kastler) Schell. She grew up and attended schools in Altamont, graduating from Labette County High School in 1965.

She married Ronald W. “Ron” Lewis on Aug. 1, 1965, in Altamont at United Methodist Church. Following their marriage, they lived in Athens, Greece, and El Paso, Texas, while Mr. Lewis served in the military. Upon his discharge in 1968, they moved to Coffeyville. Mr. Lewis preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2008.

Mrs. Lewis worked for 16 years at the former Safeway grocery store, which later became Homeland. Then she worked at Bank of America in Coffeyville until retiring in 2009. She moved to Altamont in 2010.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and reading. She had been attending First Baptist Church in Altamont.

Survivors include two daughters, Ronda Rohling and her husband, Jim, of Mound Valley and Amy Gregory and her husband, Kevin, of Collinsville, Okla.; six grandchildren, Katie, Brice, Jake and David Rohling and Vince and Alexis Gregory; a brother, Carl Schell of Parsons; and two sisters, Bonnie Schell of Altamont and Connie Dodds of Omaha, Neb.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Jr. and Ace Schell.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Altamont. Burial will be in North Edna Cemetery. The family received friends on Monday.
