Wes was born on Feb. 1, 1955, to Ben and Dee (Box) Overman in Parsons. As a young child, he moved with his family to California in 1958. The family returned to the Oswego area in 1964. For a time, Wes attended schools in the suburbs of Los Angeles and in rural Hallowell at the District 90 location. In approximately 1966, the family moved into town, and Wes graduated from Oswego High School in 1973. He also attended Labette Community College for awhile.
On June 22, 1974, Wes married Cindy Sue Blackledge. They had two daughters and were later divorced.
On Aug. 14, 1983, Wes married Sandra Kay Davolt, and two more daughters joined the family.
In December 1983, with a single space heater, Wes began what we all know as Overman Plumbing. Wes was very community minded. He served with the Oswego Volunteer Fire Department from 1984 to 2005. He also served on the Oswego Recreation Commission. He loved to play various sports and even coached both boys’ and girls’ basketball. Before becoming self-employed, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, golfing and other sports. He had recently taken up woodworking. However, his weekly card games with his friends were his greatest joy and were not to be missed.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Dee Overman; and his parents-in-law, Dale and Betty Davolt.
Wes is survived by his loving wife, Sandi Overman of the home; four girls, Angie Harrison and her husband, Travis, of Moran, Heather Larsen and her husband, Kenny, of Parsons, Nikki Lewis and her husband, Ty, of Oswego and Melissa Lewis and her husband, Tim, of Neosho, Mo.; and Wes’ “special” girl, a 12-year-old dachshund, Maggie Mae, of the home in Oswego. Also surviving Wes are three sisters, Linda D. Woods of Brunswick, Ga., Rhonda K. Furia of Kileen, Texas, and Glee Clark and her husband, Bryan, of Oswego; two brothers-in-law, Gary Davolt of St. Louis and Bobby Davolt of Oswego; 10 grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
