CHEROKEE — Billie L. Meier, 72, of Cherokee died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at her home.
She was born Feb. 21, 1939, in rural Galesburg a daughter of Burl F. and Ethel (Wilson) Peterson. She grew up and attended school in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School.
She married William J. “Jack” Meier Jr. on June 1, 1958, in Erie. He survives of the home.
She was a mother and homemaker; she enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, playing Yatzee and Scrabble.
She was a member of Countryside Christian Church in Pittsburg and the Christian Women’s Organization at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.
Other survivors include three sons, William Chris Meier and his wife, Samantha, of Baytown, Texas, Kendal Lewis Meier and his wife, Trudy, of Dalton, Mo., and Kevin L. Meier and his wife, Susie, of Long Beach, Miss.; two daughters, Karen Meier Fay of Kirksville, Mo., and Kathy Ann Meier of Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, J.B. Peterson of Cherryvale and Jim Peterson of Thayer; and two sisters, Ethel Mae Widowski of Skiatook, Okla., and Linda Diediker of Parsons.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte and Arlie.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons with the Rev. Andrew Stout officiating. Burial will be in Galesburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Parsons, where friends may call after 2:30 p.m. today.
