LEAVENWORTH — Betty L. Young, 84, of Leavenworth died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 9, 1927, in Parsons the daughter of Earl and Alice (Treadwell) Trout.

Betty worked at Hallmark Cards for more than 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Leavenworth.

On March 24, 1958, she married Donald L. Young in Fredonia. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 2005.

She is survived by her three children, Mark (Jeanette) Young of Scottsdale, Ariz., David (Janet) Young of Leavenworth and Sharon (Philip) Tompkins of Spring Hill; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Lois Emery and Nola Fisher.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home in Leavenworth. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A graveside service and burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons.
