CHERRYVALE — Mary F. Cleaveland, 72, of rural Cherryvale died at 2:22 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at her home.
She was born June 6, 1939, at Sawyer a daughter of Francis H. and Dorothy Edna Mae (Bever) Gilmore. At an early age her family moved to Phoenix, where she was raised. She later resided in Maryland, Arizona and Alaska before moving to the Cherryvale area in 1966. She worked in production at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant for 20 years.
On Nov. 21, 1958, she married LeRoy Cleaveland at Greeley, Colo. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2008.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Cherryvale. She was a former member of the Church of God at Mesa, Ariz. She enjoyed cooking, flowers and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Daniel Cleaveland of Parsons, Johnny Cleaveland of Cherryvale and Stephen Cleaveland of Mound Valley; a daughter, Marilee Moore and her husband, Chris, of Galesburg; a stepson, LeRoy J. Cleaveland of Escondido, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Dawn Cundiff and her husband, Bill, of Iowa; six grandchildren, Linsey Cleaveland, Emmanuel Nance, Lauren Cleaveland, Bridgett Cleaveland, Trenton Moore and Kristopher Moore; a great-granddaughter, Jayla Titus; four brothers, Fred Gilmore of Joplin, James Gilmore of Yarnell, Ariz., Jerry Gilmore and his wife, Lori, of San Antonio, Texas, and Michael Gilmore of Carthage, Mo.; and a sister, Margaret Beadle and her husband, L.K., of St. Johns, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald E., Larry K., Thomas and Stanley D. Gilmore; and a sister, Brenda Burd.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
