Connie L. Vaught, 60, of Parsons died at 8:53 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She had been in failing health.
She was born on Jan. 12, 1951, at Scotia, Calif., to John and Wanda Kay (Kimmel) Ward. She grew up at Scotia and Parsons and attended schools there.
She married John Oliver Walker at Parsons. They later divorced. She married Chris Vaught at Miami, Okla. They later divorced.
She resided at Fort Riley, Germany and Fort Campbell, Ky., while her husbands served in the Army. She returned in 1981 to Parsons, where she worked as a nurse’s aide and as a housekeeper until she retired for health reasons.
She enjoyed spending time with her sons and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing solitaire and watching the Sci-Fi channel and movies. She also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors.
Survivors include two sons, John Bradley Walker and his wife, Melissa, and Jason Walker and his wife, Shauna, all of Parsons; six grandchildren, Bridgette Grady, Anna Walker, Nathan Walker, Ryan Walker, Dwayne Walker and Johnathan Walker; a great-grandchild on the way; a brother, Jerry Ward of Parsons; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard Lee Ward and Johnnie Leroy Ward; and a sister, Peggy Good.
Following cremation, a private family memorial service will be at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home at a later date. Inurnment will follow in the East Bethany Cemetery.
