He was born June 10, 1925, at Oswego to Erville G. and Pearl (Morgan) Gullett. He attended schools in Parsons and Mound Valley, graduating from Mound Valley High School in 1943.
After graduation he served six years in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and served in the South Pacific.
Don was employed at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family.
On June 30, 1951, he married Coral M. Harley at Mountain Home, Ark. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2007, after nearly 56 years of marriage.
Survivors include three sons, Michael W. Gullett and his wife, Deby, of Carl Junction, Mo., Harley V. “Buddy” Gullett and his wife, Susy, of Nevada, Mo., and Jeffrey S. Gullett and his wife, Becky, of Marceline, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Jacob Gullett, Jordan Gullett, Micah Sulier, Adam Gullett, Kaitlin Gullett, Caleb Gullett and Josie Gullett; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patsy Shaw of Gallatin, Tenn.
Preceding him in death were four brothers, Glenn L. Gullett, Hollis D. Gullett, Verdis W. Gullett and Billy M. Gullett; and two sisters, Bonnie J. King and Carol A. Stotts.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
