MIAMI, Okla. — Esther R. Dunn, 68, of Miami, Okla., a former resident and longtime businesswoman of Chetopa, died on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Miami following a lengthy illness.

She was born on Dec. 1, 1943, at the Assembly of God parsonage in Chetopa to Laurence and Minnie (Smith) Street. As a young girl, she attended Frontier and Center rural schools and was a graduate of Columbus High School.

She owned and operated Hornet’s Nest in Chetopa from 1981 to the present. 

On Sept. 4, 1964, she married Willard Dunn in Welch, Okla. They later divorced. He preceded her in death in July 2010.

Survivors include a son, Kenny Dunn of Moore, Okla.; a daughter, Cheryl Barnes of Miami, Okla.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, James Street of Columbus; and a sister, Sharon Johnson of Baxter Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chetopa School gymnasium. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery near Columbus. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
