DENNIS — Donald E. Waldron, 85, of Dennis died Friday morning, March 15, 2012, at Elmhaven West nursing home in Parsons.

Donald Eugene Waldron was born June 16, 1926, at Iola to Lloyd Waldron and Josephine (Derby) Waldron. He graduated from Altoona High School.

He joined the U.S. Navy after high school and served during World War II. After his service, he joined Standard Oil in Neodesha and worked as an operator in the refinery until his retirement in 1982. 

He was married to Beulah Hasty. She preceded her husband in death in 1976.

On Feb. 14, 1977, he married Viola Seller Barney. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include a son, Larry Waldron and his wife, Helen, of Miller, Mo.; five daughters, Rita Levesque and Nancy Organ, both of Neodesha, Janet Isbell of Blue Springs, Mo., Gloria Ratliff of Shell Knob, Mo., and Rita Noland of Chanute; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Waldron of Leavenworth; and two sisters, Betty Waggoner of Greeley, Colo., and Janice Pierce of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

The graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Altoona Cemetery, with the Rev. Dave Cheshier, pastor of Christ’s Church, officiating. Interment will be under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel of Neodesha. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
