Margaret “Marge” Bush, 91, of Parsons died at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society of Parsons.
She was born Nov. 13, 1920, at Salina to Harry R. and Elise A. (Nelson) Stwalley. The family lived in Pittsburg before moving to Parsons in 1933. She graduated from Parsons High School.
On Oct. 16, 1937, she married James L. Bush at Girard. They operated Bush’s Cafe on North Central for 22 years. Jim preceded her in death on March 18, 1978.
Marge was a member of the First Christian Church and of its Fellowship Sunday school class. She was a charter member of TOPS No. 343 and was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Progress Chapter No. 49, Order of the Eastern Star. For many years she volunteered for the American Red Cross, the Labette County Medical Center Auxiliary and in area nursing homes. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also had assisted her son and daughter-in-law in the operation of Leroy Brown’s.
Survivors include a son, James L. Bush and his wife, Carol, of Parsons; three daughters, Cecilia Ann Whetzel and her husband, Leon, of Lubbock, Texas, Mary Margaret Jack and her husband, Wendell, of Haysville, and Debi Kay Baker and her husband, Ed, of Vilonia, Ark.; a son-in-law, Floyd Bolby of Salina; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and special friends Thomas James and Cathy Bush and Jim and Judy Ewan.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Bolby; two brothers; and a great-granddaughter.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
