SHAWNEE — Ronald D. Harrison, 73, of Shawnee, formerly of Parsons, died at 4:03 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, at Shawnee Gardens Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Shawnee. He had been in failing health the past three years.

He was born Feb. 12, 1939, in Parsons to Nathaniel and Ceola (Day) Harrison. He grew up and attended school in Parsons where he was a 1957 graduate of Parsons High School.

Following high school, he served in the United States Air Force. In the early 1960s, he moved to Kansas City, where he had lived since and had worked most of his adult life as a self-employed carpenter.

He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. He enjoyed cooking, building things and playing music, especially jazz, and played various instruments.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Wayne Harrison of Blue Springs, Mo., Daryle C. Harrison of Lenexa and Kevin Tyrone Harrison of Dallas; two daughters, Kecia L. Holland and Nina R. Liimatta, both of Kansas City, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Nathaniel W. Harrison of Parsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Garland Harrison.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday.
