Sherman T. Morgan, 99, of Parsons departed to be with the Lord Jesus at 2:38 a.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Elmhaven East nursing home.

He was born on Dec. 10, 1912, in the Edna area to Levi and Mary (Woollford) Morgan.

He lived in the Edna area until moving to Riverton, Wyo., in 1946. In Wyoming, he worked in construction, building houses. In 1961, he moved to Parsons, where he continued working as a carpenter. He also farmed for many years. He retired in 1970.

On Feb. 25, 1933, he married Julia “Amy” Bracken at Oswego. She preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2005.

He was a member of Westside Christian Church at Parsons, where he served as an elder. He received the Super Gardner of the Year featured in the Parsons Sun. He had resided at Elmhaven West for three years and then lived at Woodridge Estate for three years. He later moved to Elmhaven East. His faith and witness of Lord Jesus will be remembered in years to come.

Survivors include a daughter, Doris Joan Packard, and her husband, Bob, of Parsons; a grandson, David Packard, and his wife, Cindy, of Topeka; and two great-granddaughters, Jenna Stone, and her husband, David, and Christa Packard, all of Topeka.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank Morgan, Charles Morgan, Irvin Morgan, Orlando Morgan and Marion Morgan; and three sisters, Jane Foster, Laura Proctor and Beulah Knewtson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service Thursday. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
