Katherine “Kat” Lofton, 63, of Parsons died at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center at the Via Christi St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

She was born on Aug. 24, 1948, in Bastrop, La., to Johnnie and Mary Francis (Brown) Jackson. She grew up in Rayville, La., and attended elementary and high school in Alto, La. 

She worked in housekeeping and as a nurse’s aide at Highland General Hospital in Pampa, Texas, until retiring because of ill health.

She married Jessie Lofton in Pampa, Texas. He survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, David Jackson of Pampa, Texas, Willie James Pridget of San Antonio and Timothy Lofton of Albuquerque, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Johnny Ray Jackson of Raceland, La., and George Lee Jackson of Waxahachie, Texas; and four sisters, Lillie J. Mosley and Mattie Mae Jackson, both of Parsons, Modessa Mollique of California and Mildred Means of Rayville, La.

A grandchild preceded her in death.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
