Elma was born on Dec. 1, 1915, in Winfield. Her parents were Frank and Josephine (McGuire) Smith. She moved with her family to Oswego at the age of 7.
She worked at the Kansas Ordinance Plant (later named the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant) near Parsons before working at Fred Ronald’s Garment Factory in Parsons. She retired from Glen Berry Manufacturing, Oswego.
She was a member of Assembly of God Church, Oswego, where she was church musician for 40 years. Even in retirement, she enjoyed sewing.
Survivors include three nieces and four nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Smith, Floyd Smith and an infant brother; and two sisters, Faye Smith and her twin sister, Elva Smith.
The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Oswego, under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home during regular business hours.
