CHETOPA — Allen N. Mariott, 90, of Chetopa died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Chetopa Manor nursing home.

He was born on Jan. 12, 1922, at Omaha, Ark., to John and Stella (Hoffman) Mariott. He grew up and attended schools in Alba, Mo., and graduated from Alba High School.

He married Mary Schindler at Johnson on July 13, 1949. She survives of Chetopa.

Mr. Mariott served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy and Africa.

He worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, Parsons.

Other survivors include three sons, Richard Mariott of Sacramento, Calif., Donald Mariott of Springfield, Mo., and Kenneth Mariott of Chetopa; a daughter, Patricia Saathoff of Sacramento, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Susan Anne Snyder of Walnut Creek, Calif.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

The service will be at 2 p.m. today at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, Chetopa. The family received friends Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery at Chetopa.
