COLLINSVILLE, Okla. — David “Pete” Peterson, 58, of Collinsville, Okla., died on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, in Collinsville.

He was born on March 8, 1954, in Springdale, Ark., to William Hobart and Lucile (Tanner) Peterson. He was raised in Altamont and attended schools there, graduating from Labette County High School. He attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami, Okla.

He married Peggy Blevins on May 29, 1976, in Collinsville, Okla.

He spent most of his working live as an engineer, and for the last 11 years he worked for Newell Coach Co. in Miami, Okla.

He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including working on his tractor, building things and inventing things. He loved agriculture.

Survivors include his mother, Lucile Peterson of Altamont; his wife, Peggy; a son and daughter-in-law, Clayton and Shanyn Peterson of Butler, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Brock and Keelie Battles of Tulsa; two grandchildren, Maverick Peterson and Hannah Battles; a brother, Gene Peterson and his wife, Rafaeli of Dallas; a sister, Cathy Hill and her husband, John of Corpus Christi, Texas; and three brothers, Dan Peterson and his wife, Kathy, and Kerry Peterson, all of Altamont, and Jim Peterson and his wife, Dana, of Anson, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Byron Peterson.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Collinsville with Pastor Tim Prock officiating. Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso, Okla., in in charge of arrangements.
