Juanita (Bowen) Turner, 97, of Parsons died at 11:22 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Parsons Presbyterian Manor. She had been in failing health.

She was born on Feb. 28, 1915, at Beaver, Ark., to General Grant and Jemima Isabelle (Abbott) Bowen. She grew up at Beaver and attended Mount Zion country schools. She worked and lived in the Eureka Springs and Eagle Rock, Ark., areas for a few years. She moved to Cherokee and later Parsons.

She married Carl Turner on Nov. 24, 1940, at Exeter, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1978.

She was a charter member of Free Will Baptist Church of Parsons. She also taught Sunday school for more than 50 years and served as the church secretary for 14 years. She was a talented painter and painted many beautiful pictures over the years.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law, Shirley Bowen, Osa Bowen and Marilyn Bowen, all of Parsons.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Rhan Bowen, Dale Bowen, Rufus Bowen, Theon Bowen, Rollie Bowen, Losey Bowen and Rual Bowen; and four sisters, Sylvia Bowen, Gertrude Bowen, Bertha Bradford and Lela Ledgerwood.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
