She was born May 8, 1916, on the Capsey farm north of Soldier to W.H. and Ella Marie Forest (Cook) Capsey. She attended Mount Union Country School, graduating in 1934 from Soldier High School.
She married William Ward Sourk on Oct. 22, 1934, in Leavenworth. He died in 1979. She operated the crop and cattle herds on their farm until her death.
Survivors include her children, Mary Lee Stephens of Americus, Virginia Cook of Parsons and Ed Sourk of Hiawatha; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and siblings, Lela Kroh of Kansas City, Betty Rieschick of Soldier and Edwina Pollock of Holton.
Mary also was preceded in death by two grandsons, Douglas Stephens and Steven Rowland; and siblings, Nora Helen Allen Monroe, Maurine McCorkle, Kenneth Capsey and Georgena Miller.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery at Goff. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
