SEVERNA PARK, Md. — William Alva “Bill” Rude, 87, of Anne Arundel County, Md., died Sept. 17, 2012, at Severna Park Genesis Health Care.

He was born April 14, 1925, in Iola to Alva Oscar and Viva Ethel Patton Rude. He attended Parsons schools, graduating from Parsons High School in 1943.

He joined the U.S. Army Air Force. He graduated from Parsons Junior College.

He married Jean Marie Ledbetter in 1947, and he then attended Oklahoma A&M University in Stillwater, Okla., graduating in 1950 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for Westinghouse Electric until retiring in 1988.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; six children, Kathryn Parker of Columbia, Mo., Renee Saunders of Norman, Okla., Laramie Daniel of Glen Burnie, Md., Janette Levi of Hertford, N.C., William of Preston and Jonathan of Leander, Texas; 10 grandchildren; five great-granddaughters; and a sister, Eleanor E. Green.

Mr. Rude was cremated. The memorial service was on Saturday at Arundel Christian Church, Glen Burnie, Md.

Memorials are suggested to Arundel Christian Church for its Your Move Vision/Renovation Campaign in Glen Burnie, Md.

The Cremation Society of Maryland handled arrangements.
