Teresa K. (Lewis) Astbury, 51, of Parsons died at 7:39 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. 

She was born on Oct. 23, 1961, in Liberal to Bill Lewis Sr. and DeEtta (DeCow) Lewis. As a young girl, she grew up in Liberal and later moved with her family to Coffeyville, where she graduated from high school and earned a nursing degree from Coffeyville Community College. Prior to college, she had served in the U.S. Army.

She had worked as a registered nurse at Windsor Place in Coffeyville and also in home health care. After moving to Parsons in 1999, she worked as director of nursing at Good Samaritan Society. She was employed by the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center as a registered nurse. 

She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed her koi pond and animals.

On Jan. 7, 2009, she married Christopher T. “Chris” Astbury in Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2012.

Survivors include her parents, Bill and DeEtta Lewis of Galesburg; a son, Michael Anderson of Parsons; a brother, Bill Lewis Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Galesburg; and a sister, Paula Ballew and her husband, Donnie, of Dearing.

Following cremation, the service will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 6 at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
