Jack W. McGuire, 52, of Parsons died at 5:28 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in the emergency room at Labette Health. He had been in his usual health, and death was not expected.

He was born on Oct. 14, 1960, in Los Angeles to Linda Lu Blackburn. He grew up and attended school in Parsons.

He previously worked at SEK Auto Sales before opening his own business, McGuire Small Engine Repair, which he operated until his death.

He married Sherri D. Shrum on May 18, 2006, in Parsons. She survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Joel McGuire of the home and Adam Westhoff of Hays; a daughter, Heather McGuire of Parsons; two granddaughters; a brother, Michael Francis of San Francisco; and a sister, Karen Lee of Riverside, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his mother and grandmother.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Dennis. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
