EDNA — Roy L. Sperry, 88, of Edna died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, in the emergency room at Labette Health.

He was born on Aug. 11, 1924, in Cherryvale to Charles C. and Elizabeth Eldora (Byers) Sperry. In the early 1950s, he lived on a farm with his parents near Dennis until moving with his family to Mound Valley in 1958. 

He attended Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe and earned a bachelor’s degree from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.  In earlier years, he worked as a radio and TV repairman and, in 1978, became owner and operator of his own TV repair business until his retirement in 1990. In 1988, he moved to Edna, where he had lived since.

He was a former member of United Christian Church.

Survivors include a brother, Lloyd C. Sperry of Parsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Following cremation, burial will be in Mound Valley Cemetery under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. There will be a family memorial service later.
