MOUND VALLEY — June Volz, 75, a lifelong resident of Mound Valley, died unexpectedly at her home Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012. 

She was born on Feb. 13, 1937, in Mound Valley to Leonard and Ann (Blake) Billingsly. She grew up and attended school in Mound Valley and was a 1955 graduate of Mound Valley High School.

She worked 28 years at the former Automotive Controls in Independence until retiring in the late 1990s.

She enjoyed gardening, working outdoors and attending crafts class. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dog, Glory Be.

She married John P. Volz on Nov. 13, 1955, in Mound Valley.  He preceded her in death on March 18, 2005.

Survivors include a son, Mark Volz and his wife, Becky, of Galesburg; a daughter, Martha Robertson and her husband, Randy, of Waukomis, Okla.; six grandchildren, Seth Volz, Sarah Coover, Missy Stiffler, Tony Robertson, John Robertson and Brian Robertson; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the funeral home.
