Marguerite Lee, 99, of Parsons died at 4:21 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at her home.

She was born on Dec. 8, 1913, at Fremont, Iowa, to Walter and Nelle (Coen) Ehrenhard. She was raised in Fremont and attended school there, graduating from Fremont High School in 1932. She then attended William Penn College at Oskaloosa, Iowa.

She began her teaching career in a one-room school house in Fremont and taught there for five years. She then spent a year in California, where she worked as a nanny. In 1963, she returned to teaching and taught fifth grade at the elementary school in Fremont, retiring in 1978. In 2000, she moved to Parsons to be near her daughter.

On March 20, 1938, she married Mac Lee at Fremont. He preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1956.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ottumwa, Iowa, and attended First Baptist in Parsons. She was also a member of the Sew and So and Just a Mere sewing clubs in Iowa. Marguerite enjoyed gardening, reading, painting and antiques. She was interested in people and their lives. She was patriotic. Her loves were her church, family and friends.

Survivors include a son, James Lee, and his wife, Lila, of Topeka; two daughters, Amy Cunningham, and her husband, Don, of Parsons and Elaine Christy of Princeton, N.J.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Coen Ehrenhard, Erwen Ehrenhard and Robert Ehrenhard.

The service will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church at Parsons. There will be another service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fremont Funeral Home at Fremont, Iowa. Burial will be in Cedar Township North Cemetery at Fremont.
