He was born on March 9, 1936, at Des Moines, Iowa, to Aaron D. and Arlie B. (Hall) Mathis. He lived most of his life in Parsons and attended local schools, including West Junior High School.
For several years, he was employed at Swift and Co. in Parsons.
Survivors include a brother, Walter Mathis of Breman, Ga.; and five sisters, Arlie Ruth Miller of Edwardsville, Shirley Cismouski of Mentone, Calif., Arlene Cray of Altura, Calif., Judy Osburn of Lecompton and Eleanor Moots of Kirkland, Mo.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience.
