She was born on Sept. 4, 1918, on a farm north of Altamont to Alvah F. and Beulah M. (Murray) Padgett. She lived in the rural Parsons area much of her life and in the Cherryvale area for more than 20 years. She returned to Parsons in May 2002.
On June 1, 1935, she married Wesley Cosby Sr. in Parsons. For many years, they farmed northeast of Parsons. He preceded her in death on June 17, 1979.
In April 1980, she married Carl Waller in Miami, Okla. After their marriage, she moved to the Cherryvale area. Mr. Waller preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1996.
Mrs. Waller had been a member of First Baptist Church of Cherryvale and of the American Baptist Women. After returning to Parsons, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Parsons and attended as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Cosby and his wife, Pat, and Wesley Cosby Jr. and his wife, Mary, all of Parsons; four daughters, Marge Richardson of Rose Hill, Ruby Lyon, Vickie Selvidge, both of Wichita, and Dora Cunningham and her husband, Charles, of Parsons; 23 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Others preceding her in death were a son, Richard Cosby; an infant granddaughter, Terri Denise Lyon; an infant great-grandson, Jason Wesley Cosby; two sons-in-law, Gary Richardson and Don Lyon; a brother, Bernal Padgett; and two sisters, Velma Wells and Ruby Padgett.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Parsons. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery at Altamont. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
