Judy K. Dwyer, 69, of Parsons died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at her home. 

She was born March 21, 1943, in Parsons to Fred and Mira (McLane) Groff. She grew up in Parsons where she attended Washington Elementary School and was a 1961 graduate of Parsons High School. 

For a short time she worked at the Parsonian Hotel as a PBX operator. She then moved to New Orleans where she worked as a PBX operator before returning to Parsons.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and its Altar Society. She served as organist and pianist for St. Patrick’s choir for several years until her health declined. Judy enjoyed music, counted cross-stitch, sewing and spending time with her family.

She married Joseph H. “Joe” Dwyer on July 5, 1968, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parsons. He survives of the home.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two brothers, Gerald Groff of Vinita, Okla., and Jack L. Groff of Cherryvale.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jim Groff.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. Sunday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
